Pelhman Gardens, the Bronx–A 57-year-old man was fatally struck by a car on Friday morning, shortly after he had left Jacobi Medical Center. Before striking the man, the driver of the vehicle had crashed into two cars, police said.

The man, who was not immediately identified by police, was crossing Bronx and Pelham Parkway, at the corner of Seymour Ave, when a female driver of a white Toyota Corolla crashed into him around 9:30 a.m., police said.

After being hit, the man suffered trauma to his body and was transported the short distance back to Jacobi, where he was pronounced dead, according to officials.

The driver of the Toyota, who police later identified as Shakira Price, was observed being administered an alcohol test at the scene by NYPD Highway officers.
