Castle Hill, the Bronx– Gunfire erupted on the street after a large fight Thursday morning, leaving two men and a woman–later determined to have been an innocent bystander–dead, according to officials.
The shooting began at approximately 9:45 a.m. on Castle Hill Ave, near the cross with Randall Ave, the NYPD said.
NYPD investigators stated that they believe only one man fired the shots that killed all three victims. The alleged shooter is thought to have fled the scene after the incident and remained on the loose as of late Thursday night–police say they are looking for a heavyset, dark-skinned male wearing dark clothing, who fled on foot towards Randall Ave immediately after the shooting.
Police stated that before the shooting, there was a large dispute in the parking lot of a store on Castle Hill Ave that the male shooting victims and the perpetrator may have been involved in– both male victims are believed to have been intentionally targeted by the alleged shooter, police said.
Witnesses at the scene reported that a 45-year-old female, later identified by police as Arileida Jiminez, was handing out brochures on the street when the shots broke out. Police say Ms. Jiminez was struck in the torso by a bullet and rushed to Jacobi Medical Center by EMS– she was pronounced dead there shortly after.
Police officials have identified the male victims as Mustafa Tarver and Christopher Alleyne, both 33-years-old. Both men were shot in the head and transported to Jacobi Medical Center where they were pronounced dead, according to NYPD officials.
NYPD investigators did not immediately state if they have determined whether the male victims had any relationship to one another or the alleged shooter.
Officials have released surveillance video that they say shows the alleged shooter. The public is asked to call the NYPD tip line ( 1-800-577-TIPS ) or go to nypdcrimestoppers.com if they have any information about the wanted suspect or the shooting.
