Two young children killed, a pregnant woman injured, in Park Slope crash

Park Slope, Brooklyn- Early this afternoon, two young children were killed and a pregnant woman was injured after they were struck by white Volvo near a crosswalk, according to officials.

The incident occurred at around 12:40 PM, near the intersection of 9th St and 5th Ave, according to FDNY officials.

The FDNY stated that two children and a female were taken to Methodist Hospital; both children were pronounced dead at the hospital and the female is in critical condition, according to NYPD officials.

Over the radio, police stated that they were transporting the driver of the Volvo to the local police precinct; it is unclear right now if police are charging the driver with any offense.

A Pix 11 reporter—who was nearby as the incident unfolded—stated that after the Volvo hit the pedestrians, the driver tried to flee but was stopped after colliding head-on with a parked car.

NYC Council Member Brad Lander—who represents Park Slope—wrote on Twitter that a 2-year-old and 4-year-old were killed in the crash, and their pregnant mother is in critical condition.

Lander called the incident “unimaginably horrible.”

Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams wrote on Twitter that his office was monitoring the situation and said he sends his “deepest condolences to the victims’ family.”
