Vehicle collision on I-95 leaves a driver pinned in wreckage

Baychester, the Bronx- Early this morning, a single-vehicle collision left a car demolished and the driver pinned in the wreckage.

Police and firefighters responded to the Exit 9 ramp of the New England Throughway, around 4:53 AM this morning after receiving reports of a vehicle accident, according to FDNY officials.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel found a driver pinned inside a vehicle that had struck a barrier on the highway.

The driver was extricated from the wreck by firefighters and transported to Jacobi Hospital with injuries that were “not life-threatening,” according to the FDNY.

All northbound traffic on the throughway was shut down while rescue operations to free the driver were underway.

As of this morning, NYPD officials did not provide a comment on what may have caused the accident.
