Large Bronx blaze displaces nearly 50.

Mott Haven, the Bronx- Last night, nearly fifty people were displaced after a blaze burned through an apartment building.

The fire started just before 8 PM in a building located at 50 St. Mary’s St.

Firefighters received a call for a stove fire on the top floor and upon arrival found that flames had spread into the cockloft, a small space between the ceiling of the top floor and the roof.

Since the cockloft is hard to access, it made it more difficult for firefighters to fight the blaze.

The FDNY stated the fire was called under control just after 10 PM.

There were no reports of any residents were hurt, however the FDNY said 3 firefighters received minor injuries.

32 adults and 16 children were displaced due to the fire, according to the FDNY.

The Red Cross was on scene to help them.
