Bronx: Three shot in a possible domestic incident

Soundview, the Bronx- Early this afternoon a man reportedly shot two women before turning the gun on himself, in what police are calling a double-murder and suicide [attempt].

At 2:20 PM today, police responded to an 11th-floor apartment at 1690 East 174th Street where they found three people shot, according to NYPD Detective Chief Robert Boyce.

Boyce stated that a 54-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and a 29-year-old woman was rushed to Jacobi Hospital and then pronounced dead.

A 52-year-old man, who police believe shot both women, was also taken to Jacobi with a gunshot wound to his head.  Although he was reported to be alive in the hospital late this afternoon, police say that do not expect him to survive.

Boyce stated that the incident looks “domestic in nature,” however he said the information is still preliminary.

There was a 1-year-old infant in the apartment when the shooting took place, according to Boyce. The infant was not harmed but was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

A fourth person at the scene was taken into custody. Boyce stated that the man is not a suspect, and is now being treated as a witness to the shooting.
