Plane returns to JFK after report of a fire

JFK, Queens- Around 1:00 PM today, a plane made an emergency landing at JFK after reports of it possibly being on fire.

The American Airline had just taken off from Queens, en route to Mexico, when someone on the ground reported seeing a fire on the plane’s wing or engine.

The pilots were notified and headed back the airport.

After the plane landed, the Port Authority police found no evidence of any fire.

Officials say it will be up to American Airlines to determine if there was, in fact, a fire or if this was a false alarm.
