Crown Heights, Brooklyn- Six firefighters and one police officer were injured after a fire broke out in a residential building.

The fire started around 9:15 PM on Tuesday on the top floor of a 3-story building located at 910 Bergen Street, near the cross with Franklin Avenue.

It quickly spread to the two adjacent buildings and had reached third alarm status within an hour, according to the FDNY.

It was nearly midnight when the fire was put under control.

FDNY Assistant Cheif Roger Sakowich said that 3 firefighters were hurt when a stairway in one of the buildings gave way as they were climbing it.

Sakowich stated that none of the first responder’s injuries were serious.

Fire officials say they still are investigating the cause of the fire.

This blaze came less than a day after a 7-alarm fire in the Bronx that left 23 people injured.
