Man hit by J train in Lower Manhattan

China Town, Manhattan- This afternoon, a man was critically injured after being struck by a J train at the Canal Street stop.

Police say that at approximately 3 PM, a man in his 60’s was standing on the downtown J train tracks when a train entered the station and hit him.

He was rescued from under the train by emergency personnel and removed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

It is unclear if this was a suicide attempt or the man accidentally ended up on the tracks.
