Garment District, Manhattan- At approximately 8:50 AM today, workers at a construction site near the West Side Highway accidentally hit a high pressure gas line. Within 40 minutes, the gas  was turned off and FDNY said the scene was under control.

There were no injuries or evacuations of nearby buildings.

Past incidents involving gas lines in NYC have had more severe consequences. In 2015, a gas line explosion in the East Village killed two people and injured many more, some critically.
